Field agriculture

We are supporting CREA (the Italian National Institute for Agricultural Research) and the Poggetti Vecchi company in their research of the innovative “dry” rice cultivation method.

Rice is irrigated without flooding, but with controlled and optimized drip irrigation using Sol-Chip and Soonapse systems.

“The integrated SolChip/Soonapse system succeeds in providing for each type of area, crop and light conditions, the most efficient directions for optimizing water use in irrigation”

Greenhouses

2500 systems of Sol-Chip’s 1st generation IoT platform were successfully deployed in greenhouses in Southern Spain for different vegetables and fruits.

The monitoring of soil parameters and watering was proven to increase yield by 30-40% and decrease water consumption by 10-25%.

“We successfully deployed Sol-Chip’s 1st generation IoT platform in greenhouses in Southern Spain and we’re delighted with the results. The monitoring of soil parameters and watering increased yield by 30-40% and decreased water consumption by 10-25%.”

Gardening

Our systems were selected by a community gardening supplier in China to be used in their new high-rise buildings. This governmental project aimed to control the irrigation and water consumption of the garden apartments. The LoRaWan protocol showed excellent communication abilities and the project is now in its commercial phase.

The system was stable and provided sophisticated irrigation control. After a successful pilot, we are now moving to the commercial phase.

“SolChip’s LoRaWan protocol showed tremendous communication abilities. The system was stable and provided sophisticated irrigation control. After a successful pilot, we are now looking forward to moving to the commercial phase.”

Orchards

The Golan Heights Winery has been successfully moving to Sol-Chip’s 2nd  generation IoT systems in recent years. The ease of maintenance together with the stability of the communication has helped the winery reach superior, healthier yields.

The advanced IoT system based on LoRaWan brings a wider communication range in the problematic topography of the Golan heights.

“Our Winery has been successfully shifting to SolChip’s 2nd generation IoT systems in recent years. The ease of maintenance together with the stability of the communication helped us reach superior, healthier yields.”

Weather stations

The agriculture segment dramatically relies on weather data. Growers need accurate local data for optimally planning their irrigation.

The WHIN organization from Indiana is collaborating with Purdue University to lead the deployment and upgrade hundreds of weather stations for local usage of farmers and growers.

After competing with world-leading weather station companies, Sol-Chip’s weather station was chosen for the project. Its main advantages include the fact it is energy autonomous, the multi-functionality of the Soltag and the cost-effectiveness of the LoRaWAN communication.

In addition, visualization of the diverse sensor data on the same dashboard extends data management and analysis to additional purposes including research and development.

All current and historical information can be found in one secure, easy-to-use web portal.

“After competing with world-leading weather station companies, SolChip’s weather station was chosen to lead the deployment and upgrade hundreds of weather stations for local usage of farmers and growers. SolChip’s solution is energy autonomous, multi-functional and the LoRaWAN communication is highly cost-effective.”

AG & solar power farm

Sol-Chip and Soonapse, its AI partner, are involved in the collaboration of two large multinational companies from the energy and green chemistry sectors.

The goal of the project is to reduce agricultural land consumption, a reason often given by both farms and environmental groups to oppose the adoption of photovoltaics.

Cultivated conditions will be monitored in several areas: around the panels, in the corridors between panel rows, and under the panels.

For each area, crops have been selected that are particularly suited to the specific conditions of brightness and access to agricultural work.

Sol-Chip’s IoT platform was chosen for its highly efficient solar panel feature, which ensures outstanding battery life even in partially shaded conditions.

The integrated SolChip/Soonapse system has succeeded in providing the most efficient directions for optimizing water use in irrigation for every type of area, crop, and for different light conditions.
